Our Aim: Making waste reduction in school a priority

How to reach there: A Waste-free Lunch Program is a good start especially that we noticed that the majority of students brings lunch from home or buys it at school, there's almost always room for improvement.

Message behind the program:
Educating students, parents, and school staff about where our trash ends up and how we, as individuals, can reduce the amount of trash we generate.
The program favors the use of reusable food containers, drink containers, utensils, and napkins and discourages the use of disposable packaging, such as prepackaged foods, plastic bags, juice boxes and pouches, paper napkins, and disposable utensils.
On Wednesday of every week, the students lead the change through having a waste- free lunch day. On the waste- free lunch day, the students eenjoy a zero waste lunch by using reusable stuff
Outcome: The litter bins are always empty on Wednesdays! and the students are proud of their positive achievements!

Next Steps: Engaging teachers and staff in the waste reduction plan, and helping parents and students make earth-friendly lunches part of their DAILY routine and that will ultimately help in creating a going green culture in the school and amongst the community.
